Purpose:

The main purpose of the project was to document principles and approaches of the successful MERET projects in natural resource management and its contribution in food security program and household resilience development. Specifically the project is tasked to develop a compendium of best practices of natural resources management that influence outcome strategies of livelihood assets. The documentation of these best practices in natural resources management and livelihood assets provides opportunities to acquire knowledge on lessons learned and to improve and adopt strategies and actions through feedback, reflection and analysis.

Key activities

Setting criteria and/or a tool for SLM intervention monitoring and evaluation;
Develop methodology and data collection instruments;
Detailed field survey and data collection on best practices and principles of MERET;
Data qualitative and quantitative socio-economic and bio-physical study ; and
Prepare strategic document for up-scaling best practices and lessons of MERET to PSNP, SLMP and other programs with follow-up actions and institutional responsibilities.
This project has been instrumental in developing the Exit Strategy developed by WLRC, MOA, GIZ, and other partners.
