Kunzila ILMWA Project
Water and Land Resource Centre (WIRC) in collaboration with SNV/the Netherlands, is leading the implementation of an innovative and comprehensive project that envisions a more prosperous and healthy population in Kunzila watershed. The project is supported by the Royal Netherlands Embassy in alignment with upcoming investment initiatives in the area. The project strives to promote on integrated rural and rural development initiatives though natural resource management, enhanced agricultural productivity, improved market access, job creation, improved WaSH services.
Water and Land Resource Centre (WLRC) of Addis Ababa University
WLR is autonomous research for development organization affiliated to Addis Ababa University. The Centre sources its finance though projects and its research activities focus on sustainable development, use and management of land and water resources. Often times. it maintains time series observatories to assess impact through time, and learning watersheds for adaptive interventions. This announcement is, therefore, to employ Senior and Junior Accountants for the Project office:
1. Senior Accountant
Duties and Responsibilities of Accountant
Under close supervision of the Regional Project Manager and Senior Accountant at HQ, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for overall accounting and transactions of the regional project office.
A. plan, coordinate and control the day-to-day activities of finance and accounting of the Project
B. conduct detail financial account of Project office
C. establish and maintain proper books of accounts;
D. follows timely settlement of advances taken by the project staffs;
E. ensure receivables are collected and payables settled on time and with proper receipts;
F. Check that all payments are authorized by the concerned official before payment is effected;
G. Execute other finance related tasks from the Regional Project manager and HQ authorities.
H. prepare statements of balance of accounts on a regular basis;
I. prepare monthly financial statements and Consolidated year-end financial statements
J. prepare monthly bank reconciliation statements;
K. check that purchases are made in accordance with established procedures
L. ensure that payroll deductions and tax withholdings are deducted and channeled to the appropriate government office on time as per the law
M. Ensure that pension and provident fund contributions ore collected both from the employee and the employer and deposited without delay;
N. support project managers in tagging activity plans to financial plans
O. follow monthly settlement of project funds transferred from HQ against clear financial document;
P. advise regional project managers on financial matters;
Q. do other financial and budget related activities as and when required by the project managers
qualification and Experience
The Accountant shall have BA degree or above in Accounting. BA =8year and above or MA+3 years and above working experience with projects, international organization and NGOs is an advantage.
2. Accountant
Duties and Responsibilities of Accountant under close supervision of the Regional Project Manager and Project Senior Accountant, the ‘Accountant will be responsible for overall accounting and transactions of the regional project office
A. Maintain and keep financial documents with due care and in proper file.
B. Post financial recording
C. Collect government taxes on payments made by WLRC and deposit them as per the schedule of the government
D. Collect provident fund contribution both from the employee and the employer and deposit them at the bank;
E. Settle financial expenditures and produce regular financial report
F. Execute payments when approved by the Regional Project Manager
G. Manage office pity cash as per the regulation of the center,
H. Assist senior accountant on preparation of monthly financial report and reconciliation of bank account
I. Facilitate payments during field work/ training Workshops
J. Prepare staffs and daily workers salary
K. Do other finance related activities as and when required by the Senior Accountant and/or Project Managers:

Qualification and Experience
The Accountant shall have BA degree or above in Accounting, BA + 5 years and above or MA + 0 years and above experience, working experience with projects, international organizations and NGO’s is an advantage

For both positions:
Duty station: Bahir Dar Town (and/or Kunzila Town) with occasional travel to project sites and HQ at Addis Ababa
Contract Duration: One year with possible extension upon performance
Salary: as per the project scale
No: One for each position

Required Additional Skill
Fluency on computer application in Quick Book Accounting software and other office software (MS Excel and Ward) both managing and speed writing both in English and Amharic
Fluency to speak and write English and Amharic
