WLRC Water Security and Sustainable Development Hub Project held a training workshop on the “Application of Remote Sensing for Water Resource Management” on April 4, 2024 at Haile Grand Hotel, Addis Ababa.

WLRC conducted the Board of Trustees (BoT) Annual Meeting on April 4, 2024 in Haile Resort, Arba Minch, Ethiopia. The agenda items were: 1) approval of the previous year (2021/22) BoT Meeting minutes; 2) approval of the 2022/23 Annual Report and 2023/24 Annual Plan; 3) approval of the 2022/23 Audit Report; and 4) emerging institutional issues of the Centre.

Water and Land Resource Centre (WLRC) in association with International Water Management Institute (IWMI) disseminated research outputs of Water Security and Sustainable Development Hub (GCRF) Project and Improving Water for the Poor (REACH) Project at a workshop entitled, “Building water-secure future in the Awash Basin: insights from water security researches”, which was held on the 1st and 2nd of April 2024 at Haile Grand Hotel, Addis Ababa. The aim of the workshop was to share the research findings of the hub project with relevant stakeholders operating in the Awash Basin and encourage them to implement insights of research outputs in view of realizing a water secure future in the basin.

Water and Land Resource Centre (WLRC) Water Security and Sustainable Development Hub Project organized and facilitated a capacity building training on “Sustainable water resource management approach and methods in the Central Rift Valley (CRV)”, March 13 – 16/2024 at Hawassa University, Hawassa, Ethiopia.

Water and Land Resource Centre (WLRC) Water Security and Sustainable Development Hub Project disseminated the project outputs at a workshop entitled, “Nurturing water secure future in the Central Rift Valley: insights from water security research”, which was held 11th and 12th of March 2024 at South Star International Hotel, Hawassa, Ethiopia.

The FDRE Ministry of Water and Energy (MoWE), Water and Land Resource Centre – Addis Ababa University, and Italian Agency for Development Cooperation in Ethiopia organised and conducted a high-level event for joint launching of Basin Development Support for Resilient, Inclusive Growth and Harmonized Transformation in the Water Sector of Ethiopia (BRIGHT)- Project and BaSRINET Project, both of which focus on strengthening and transforming Integrated Water Resource Management in Ethiopia on the 1st of March 2024 at Hyatt Regency Hotel, Addis Ababa.

Water and Land Resources Centre in partnership with Wageningen University & Research (WUR) conducted a workshop on “The Role of Multi-level and Multi-Actor Interactions in Governing SDG-15 (Life on Land): The Challenge of Landscape Restoration in Ethiopia” on the 15th of January 2023 at Inter Luxury Hotel Addis Ababa.

Water and Land Resource Centre (WLRC) Water Security and Sustainable Development Hub (GCRF Project), in association with Addis Ababa Plan and Development Commission (AAPDC), conducted validation workshop on “Water Sensitive Planning (WSP) Strategies for Sustainable Urban Development in Melkashene (Fenta) Watershed, Upper Awash Basin Addis Ababa”, 14th of December 2023 at Azzeman Hotel, Addis Ababa.

Water and Land Resource Centre (WLRC ) conducted Water Security for the Poor (REACH) Project output dissemination workshop on “Risk-based Paradigm for Water Stewardship Resilience”, 7th and 8th of December 2023 at Capital Hotel, Addis Ababa.

The African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) – the GUILD Clusters of Excellence consortium members, namely: CDE, the University of Bern from the North and WLRC, Addis Ababa University and CETRAD, Nairobi University from the South held Inaugural meeting of the Clusters of Research Excellence in Sustainable Water and Land Resource Management for Human Well-being, at WLRC Meeting Hall, Addis Ababa.
